Sound Junkie is more than what it seems initially, in an almost paradoxical way. Its Dr.Seuss-like shape and hillbilly attitude is inviting to the eye, but still contemporary. It’s balanced (a feat of engineering in a way), yet chaotic. It relies both on the continuity of our frame material and the disparity of our sound elements to look engaging. But best of all, it’s both art and a musical playground. It’s fun for an amateur to bang on, but in the hands of a true musician, Sound Junkie can be an entirely new piece of art.
Sound Junkie was created by Team Redhead of Old Town’s Redhead Design Studio during the 2012 Old Town ScrapFest and was installed in 2013.
