Inspiration is a 20 ft tall, 2,000-pound ribbon of stainless steel by California sculptor James T. Russell. It has been buffed up and is ready to shine from the west bank of the Grand River, between the Lansing City Market and the Shiawassee Street Bridge.
Known as the Gift to the City, this $225,000 sculpture has been funded almost entirely by private donors including the Rotary Foundation, Dart Foundation, Capital Region Community Foundation, Cooley Law School, Auto Owners Insurance and more. Proving that for-profit companies can engage in creative placemaking and make a difference to our communities’ artistic and cultural landscape, Inspiration is truly inspiring to us all.
