This 2012 piece is designed with layers of images based on maps and seeds starting with warm, earthy tones on the bottom and ascending to sky blue at the top. As you descend down, the maps grow increasingly more detailed and newer in age, in addition to changing color.
The images of seed come from both the National Geographic Archive and the Millennium Seed Bank Collection in Sussex, UK. These are symbolic of Michigan State University’s beginnings as an agricultural college, as well as the personal and intellectual growth characteristics of those involved in higher education.
