Previously a blighted Deluxe Inn motel site, this land then became an urban art exhibit prior to the motel’s demolition in 2010 when over 100 graffiti artists came to the abandoned motel and created masterpieces on its walls, creating a large buzz within the community. Many people came to the site to see the artwork and take photographs. After demolition of the graffitied motel, the REO Town sign was constructed on the site that same year. On June 1, 2015, artist Sam deBourbon was commissioned by the REO Town Commercial Association to complete new paint and design on the sign. The image shown depicts the original design, before deBourbon’s design.
