This 2001 painting represents “The Rock” on Michigan State University’s campus: a place where student groups and organizations paint a large rock with their emblem for all to see. The artist, Jon Anthony, represents a cross section of the rock by creating layers upon layers of paint to mimic those that have been on the actual rock since the 1970’s.Anthony’s painting was installed in 2013.
